I was going to write my research paper over “Happy Endings” but after numerous failed attempts to find research and criticism over this story i now am going to write my paper over “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings.” Where are yall looking up research for this paper? I normally just use the SanJac databases but for some reason i can’t really find any criticism over any of the stories we read. Any help with research links or websites would be awesome! I can’t wait for this paper to be over with….
I changed my mind.
November 17, 2009Happy Endings.
November 11, 2009I decided to write my research paper over the story “Happy Endings.” I think that there will be a lot of gender criticism over this story. There also might be some biographical criticism over this story because i read in the book that the author was a feminist… Which might have something to do about her attitude in this story.
Research papers.
October 27, 2009Is it just me or does anyone loathe research papers as much as I do? I also like how i conveniently have to write two research papers at the same time for two different classes. I wish i could just write one and turn it in for both classes, but im not sure our literature paper has anything to do with government. ha. Does anyone have any idea which story they are going to use? I’m not sure which one i’m going to pick yet.
Lady Lazarus
September 15, 2009In chapter 26 we read the poem “Lady Lazarus”. In this poem you can really feel the authors pain. The author uses alot of symbols to represent herself. For example she compairs herself to a “Jew murdered in a concentration camp, a cat with nine lives and Lady Lazarus”. By these symbols we can tell that the author thinks of herself as being unimportant or maybe just forgotten. At the end of the poem the speaker says that she will rise again out of the ash, saying that she never really goes through with her suicide attempts. I believe that the speaker never follows through for the sake of coming alive again and maybe just maybe having someone notice her cries for help.
Homework…
September 1, 2009The poem i chose was “Why I Hate Homework.” The reason i like this poem is because i totally agree with it. The author uses metaphors of drowning and being burried alive to express how much he dislikes homework. I can relate to this because when i am doing homework i feel like i am being suffocated by papers. Although doing homework benefits us in everyway, it can be tidious and boring. With each stroke of the keyboard my eyes are growing more and more tired, another example of how i can relate to this poem. The author says one day he will grow out of doing homework, from my experience i don’t think that will be anytime soon.
